What do do when you feel both bliss AND grief.

Last night I went to bed dreaming of creating a joyful celebratory PranaShakti class and woke up at 5 feeling uneasiness in the pit of my stomach.

After lighting candles and saying prayers I opened my computer to begin preparing for class and discovered the horrors of chemical attacks in Syria.

Immediately back at my altar, praying, I heard “Dance your grief to clear your heart. Then send bliss energy to all who are in pain.”

It seems impossible to feel bliss (deep joy and the ecstasy of being alive) when so many are suffering. But it’s a discipline I’m practicing because I’ve learned that I cannot suffer enough to ease a person’s suffering. In fact, my mind cannot create solutions from a place of suffering.

So we danced bliss AND grief to recalibrate our bodies, minds and emotions in order to then step back into the world to be of service – each in our own way.

I recorded the opening song “Be the Light” by Paul Luftenegger and wanted to share it with you so you can move to the beautiful melody and lyrics to open your heart and move emotions through and out of your body.

May all beings be well,

3 things that help when it’s hard to get out of bed in the morning

I know both sides of mornings.

Most of my life, I’ve awakened early, easily and enthusiastically.  Excited to greet the day.  (a fact that annoyed the heck out of some family members and college roommates)

But during dark times I’ve struggled to even get out of bed.

I’m not having a personal dark time, but I’m feeling the intensity of fear and frustration all around me – so much so, that one morning this week I found it hard to get of bed.
What do you do when you’re struggling to get out of bed?

Since chances are good you may have felt this way, or may feel this way at some point in your life, I thought I’d share what worked for me this week:

While still in bed, begin listing all the things that are going right in that very moment. For example, while you were sleeping your heart kept beating and you kept breathing without any conscious effort on your part. There’s a roof over your head. You have food in your kitchen – and if you don’t, it’s easy to get some. You have clean running water and a flushing toilet. At the flick of a finger you can light up the room. (you get the idea..)
As soon as possible, light a candle and sing or say some prayers. My favorite prayer is the Lord’s Prayer in Aramaic. I also chant mantras in Sanskrit to change my vibration. I hope you have a favorite prayer or mantra. If you don’t, I highly recommend that you explore until you find one (or several) that opens your heart and connects you to God/Goddess/Source/The Creator

Set an intention to be of service. Sometimes we’ve become so focused on what’s going wrong in our lives or in the world around us that we’ve forgotten that we can be of service. As soon as we remember that we are here for a purpose, we can see a Light in the darkness. It may be as simple as calling a friend in need or sweeping your neighbors front walkway. I love the way the Course in Miracles has us ask:

What would You have me do?
Where would You have me go?
What would You have me say, and to whom?

May you find light and be light wherever you go,

It’s time to get my mojo back. How about you?

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Just like nature, our lives go in cycles.    Since last June, I’ve been in a cycle where I took a sabbatical from all but the most essential aspects of my business in order to focus on my son’s last summer at home, his participation in Olympic Swim Trials and his move to college.  Once he was settled in college, I spent the next few months reorienting myself to my SELF as  a single woman.

Now it’s time for me to get my mojo back – and it feels super exciting!

I realize I’m not the only woman who is feeling this way.  All around me I am aware of women who are waking up and ready to step more fully into their power

I made a short video for you with the energy practice we did in my PranaShakti class today so you can join us in calling your energy back.

And here’s the playlist we used to dance into our mojo.  I hope you enjoy dancing to it as you begin 2017.

Here’s to your mojo,

My wish for you in 2017

(plus 2 guest teachers to help you release 2016 and begin 2017 in style!)

I speak on behalf of myself and all my clients when I say 2016 has been an intense year.  Personally, I’ve experienced everything from intense grief at the ending of my marriage to intense joy watching my son achieve his dream of competing in Olympic Swim Trials…and everything in between.

From your emails, comments and conversations I know you’ve had an intense year as well.

We are ending 2016.  In Numerology 2016 is a 9:  2+0+1+6 = 9.  9 represents endings, and clearing the way for new beginnings. It indicates the culmination of many strands of lessons.    And we are beginning 2017.  In numerology 2017 is a 1:  2+0+1+7=10 and 1+0= 1.  1  is a number of beginning. 2017 asks us all to start something brand new, something that expresses our uniqueness, that uses our leadership abilities, that opens us to new perspectives. 2017 as a 1 year is a time to think and act independently.

I encourage you to take time to reflect on what you need to release, what you wish to carry forward and what you desire to plant in 2017.

To assist you in that process, two of my close friends and favorite wayshowers have created rituals/processes to help you do that.  Just click on the links below to access their podcasts and worksheets:

First thing in the morning: Do THIS not THAT.

If the only prayer you ever say
in your entire life is
“Thank You,”
it will be enough.

I recently moved and lost my landline, so instead of having a telephone and an alarm clock on my nightstand, I now have a cell phone there.  (on airplane mode to lower EMF exposure)

WHOA……I had NO IDEA that using my cell phone as an alarm clock could have such a deleterious effect on my morning routine!   It’s so tempting to look at Social Media, emails, texts and (God forbid) the ‘news’ before even getting out of bed.

Has this ever happened to you? If so, this is NOT OKAY.

It’s bad for your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health to start your day by checking in with the outside world before checking in with your inside world.

Even though I’ve had a dedicated morning practice for years, I was easily seduced into reading emails, texts and social media posts while still snuggled under the covers when I began using my cell phone to wake me up.  It didn’t take long to notice the negative effects:  I was more anxious than usual.  My mind was scattered.    I skipped my morning practice, so my body was tight and I felt disconnected from Source.  I needed caffeine to get going.  And, worst of all, I felt aimless.

  1. If you use your cell phone as an alarm clock, switch it to airplane mode to lower EMF exposure.  If you MUST leave your phone on, make sure it’s at least 6 feet away from your bed.
  2. When you wake up, take a few minutes while still in bed to breathe and listen to this gratitude meditation I recorded for you while I was leading a Bliss Retreat in Mexico last week.  Gratitude has been shown to enhance every area of life by scientists, philosophers and mystics alike….and it’s a MUCH more beautiful way to start your day. <Tweet It>

May your days be filled with gratitude.
