Embodying Your Prayers

When I was growing up I had the hardest time sitting still in church. I played hangman and tic-tac-toe with my sister on the back of the church bulletin, scribbled notes to my dad on communion cards, and generally squirmed in my seat. So you can imagine what a revelation and a relief it was when I discovered that I could embody one of my favorite prayers – the Aramaic Lord’s Prayer – by doing the 8 movements of a sun salutation with the 8 lines of the prayer!

This summer I shared my “moving prayer” at the National Wellness Conference.  It has become such an important part of my daily spiritual practice that I wanted to share it with you, too.

How do you embody your prayers? I’d love for you to share your comments with me here…

That was the most beautiful sun salutation I have ever seen. You have inspired me to do this practice daily again. I think that embodying your prayers is an excellent plan and must be how we were meant to pray. Aramaic Lord’s prayer was lovely.
