I recently moved and lost my landline, so instead of having a telephone and an alarm clock on my nightstand, I now have a cell phone there. (on airplane mode to lower EMF exposure)
WHOA……I had NO IDEA that using my cell phone as an alarm clock could have such a deleterious effect on my morning routine! It’s so tempting to look at Social Media, emails, texts and (God forbid) the ‘news’ before even getting out of bed.
Has this ever happened to you? If so, this is NOT OKAY.
It’s bad for your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health to start your day by checking in with the outside world before checking in with your inside world.
Even though I’ve had a dedicated morning practice for years, I was easily seduced into reading emails, texts and social media posts while still snuggled under the covers when I began using my cell phone to wake me up. It didn’t take long to notice the negative effects: I was more anxious than usual. My mind was scattered. I skipped my morning practice, so my body was tight and I felt disconnected from Source. I needed caffeine to get going. And, worst of all, I felt aimless.
DON’T START YOUR DAY LIKE THAT!
DO THIS INSTEAD:
- If you use your cell phone as an alarm clock, switch it to airplane mode to lower EMF exposure. If you MUST leave your phone on, make sure it’s at least 6 feet away from your bed.
- When you wake up, take a few minutes while still in bed to breathe and listen to this gratitude meditation I recorded for you while I was leading a Bliss Retreat in Mexico last week.
