Part 2 of Being Enough: The Power of ‘ish’

Part 2 of Being Enough: The Power of ‘ish’This week I’ve been juggling the beta-testing launch of an online program (that you will hear about soon) and being the mom of a teenager and preparing for my annual Costa Rica retreat.

I couldn’t seem to do any one of those things as well as I would have liked.

There were technical difficulties when I delivered my first webinar.

My teenager seemed sullen and nothing I did could bring him out of his funk.

And all my ideas of looking amazing in a bikini while surfing in Costa Rica shattered when I tried on my bathing suits.

So I did what every wise goddess does when she finds herself stuck in self-dissatisfaction: I sought the counsel of a wise friend.

My wise friend listened to my tales of woe and then said, “Sit back. Relax. I’m going to read you a story.”

And she proceeded to read me the story of ‘ish’ by Peter Reynolds…

Now I feel happy-ish with the webinar I created. Hopeful-ish that my son is simply going through a teenage phase. Mother-ish and teacher-ish. Peaceful-ish.

And I’m excited-ish about surfing. Being surfer-ish.

What a relief to discover ‘ish’!

So, what will you transform using the power of ‘ish’?

    Dearest Deb,

This story of ISH comes at precisely the right moment for me, as I felt like I was flailing in the early weeks of new baby. So today I strive to feel blissful-ish about being a mom. I surrender to eating food-ish and keeping a clean-ish house while being present-ish with my other 2 kids. Mother-ish.

    I love and appreciate you!

    That’s for the ish story!
S’been one of those ‘ish days for me. These “ish” days. Do they make us self-“ish?” Naw….
My October has been crazy life-ish around marketing, production, website production, order fulfilling, video production & editing (4!), dealing with technical issues, etc. & getting ready for Texas Yoga event at a vendor (delighted you’ll be speaking!) I’ve barely had time for myself! See you tomorrow and I’ll have your 2 bottles. Costa Rica seems like a dream a million miles away & I’m on a speedrocket ship!

This is brilliant, amazing, and I put the hardcover in my cart on Amazon. My favorite is the end. I think living *ish*fully ever after is a very wise and noble path…

    Oh, Sunny! I hear you!! Marketing-ish, production-ish, order-fulfilling-is….no time for self-ish.
But the Costa Rica retreat is just around the bend….and you will soon dance-ish, yoga-ish, surf-ish, horseback ride-ish, zipline-ish and rest-ish. OXOXOXOX

Ah, there is nothing quite like a story to shine the light in a new way. Like Ramon, I have learned that savoring each moment is quite enough-ish…
